Pray for Immigrants Weekend, May 1st and 2nd

May 1st is going to be another big day of action in support of CIR across the nation and it is also a deadline for Congress to take action and introduce their immigration reform bill. Consequently, JFI (in conjunction with a host of other faith based organizations) is looking at May 1st and May 2nd to be an important weekend of prayer, when our congregations can connect their masses, prayers and homilies to the importance of fair and just immigration reform that respects our core Catholic values including human life, human dignity and family unity.

Particular emphasis will be on Sunday May 2nd when we hope to have scores of Masses and prayer services happening simultaneously throughout the nation in support of Immigrants.

We expect May 2nd to be a day when opponents of CIR will be speaking out as a result of the May 1st rallies around the country. Consequently, it will be very powerful to have the faith community lifting up prayers, values and testimonies in support of immigrants on the same day. This will counter the anti - immigrant attacks and lift up why immigration reform is so critical to people of faith and so critical for a nation that was born on American values including liberty, equality and justice for all.
